Who is Amit Jain?


Amit Jain was born on 12 November 1976 in Jaipur, his father was an RBI officer and used to do business of gems. After doing BTech from IIT Delhi, Amit did his first job as a software engineer in Tata Consultancy. A year later, he worked as a senior associate at Trilogy, an international software company. In the same company, he became the Delivery Manager and later the Product Manager.

When he was in the best phase of his life, his father was diagnosed with cancer. For this reason both the brothers had to leave their jobs and come back for their father’s treatment. After some time his father died.

How did CarDekho start?
After his father’s death, he tried to run his father’s gems business for a few days, but he could not succeed in it. After this Amit and his brother together started IT service company “Girnarsoft” in 2007. He wrote e-mails to many companies to take orders in Girnarsoft, then after a lot of effort, he got the first order of 50 thousand.

Amit and his brother were fond of vehicles, that is why they went to the International Auto Expo held at Pragati Maidan in Delhi in 2008. Here he got information about different cars. After this he started a portal called CarDekho in 2008, through which you can get information about the price of the car, its model and features, also you can compare 4 cars about all these things.

You will be surprised to know that from 2008 to 2013 he successfully ran this business without any funding. They took the first funding in 2013, CarDekho has received funding of $ 497.5 million in different 9 rounds. With this, their valuation has now become $1.2 billion and this company has now become a unicorn.

After the success of CarDekho, he also started e-commerce units like BikeDekho, PriceDekho, TireDekho, CollegeDekho. Along with this, he founded Carbe.My in 2015 for Malaysia and Thailand. Today this company has more than 2000 employees and more than 35 million customers every month.

Amit Jain is currently playing the role of a judge in Shark Tank India Season 2.
