Atal Bihari Vajpayee was an Indian politician who served three terms as the Prime Minister of India. He was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and is widely credited with leading India’s economic liberalization. He was also a poet and a great orator.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on 25 December 1924 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He was the son of a school teacher, who was an ardent follower of Mahatma Gandhi. Atal Bihari Vajpayee studied at Victoria College in Gwalior and DAV College in Kanpur. He was an active member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) right from his college days.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee entered politics in the 1950s and soon rose to become a prominent member of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS). He became the General Secretary of the party and a member of the Lok Sabha from Balrampur in 1957. He later merged his party with the Janata Party in 1977 and was elected as the External Affairs Minister in the Janata Party government.
